Selected publications, recent and forthcoming: BEOWULF: The Poem and its Tradition (1983) Anglo-Saxonism and the Construction of Social Identity (1997) Homo Narrans: The Poetics and Anthropology of Oral Literature (1999) Presently at work on a collaborative New Edition of BEOWULF WUN-IDENTIFIED RESEARCH COLLABORATION THEMES: Multilingualism in the Middle Ages: I am interested in the Old English language in relation to other languages spoken or written in Anglo-Saxon England, including Latin and Old Norse, and encompassing the use of Bilingual manuscripts. History of the Medieval Book: I work with manuscripts of Early Medieval England. Medieval Chronicle Studies: BEDE, The Anglo-Saxon chronicle, and Geoffrey of Monmouth are particular interests of mine.
