SCHOLARLY INTERESTS: Current area(s) of research: The Crusades and the early history of the crusader states Warfare and chivalry of the High and Later Middle Ages Middle High German literature Medieval historiography Selected publications, recent and forthcoming: Recent publications include The Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem: A Dynastic History, 1099-1125 and the edited volume Crusade and Conversion on the Baltic Frontier. Current projects include editorship of the 4-volume Encyclopedia of the Crusades and a volume of papers on historiography of 12th-century Flanders. WUN-IDENTIFIED RESEARCH COLLABORATION THEMES: Multilingualism in the Middle Ages: Cultural interactions in Outremer/Holy Land. History of the Medieval Book: Medieval Chronicle Studies: Chronicles of crusades and also of Germany and Low Countries - esp. 11th-13th centuries.
