The Medieval Studies Program coordinates a wide range of activities
on
the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. It sponsors courses and related
events
(lectures, symposia), thus providing a focus for the interdisciplinary
study of the
history and culture of the Middle Ages (covering the period
roughly from late antiquity to
the fifteenth century). Participating faculty
members represent many academic disciplines
and fields, and the Program
offers courses, many of them through or in conjunction with
other departments,
such as History, Classics, Comparative Literature, Art History, English,
History of Science, French and Italian, German, Scandinavian Studies, and Spanish and
Portuguese.
