2008 Summer Sessions: Second Year Japanese

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literature will offer Third and Fourth Semester Japanese in a ten-week session, June 2-August 10. Students should contact the instructor by early May, if possible, to discuss their background in the language.

295-203/327 Third Semester Japanese. 5 credits.
Prerequisite: E. Asian 104/320 or satisfactory placement test scores.

This course aims at developing the four language skills equally beyond the beginning level, which assumes a good grasp of the basic grammar of Japanese (equivalent to Genki I & II) as well as approximately 200 Chinese characters. It meets Monday-Friday and includes two lectures and two discussion classes daily. The material introduced in the lectures is immediately reinforced by vigorous drills and exercises in the TA-taught discussion classes. At least 400 Kanji beyond the first-year level are introduced.
