DARE's Funding--You Can Help

The Dictionary of American Regional English is supported financially by the National Endowment for the Humanities (an independent federal agency*), the National Science Foundation**, private foundations, and many generous individuals. Your support is also welcome. All contributions, large and small, will help to ensure that DARE will reach the letter Z and will serve scholars and lovers of the English language for generations to come.

Gifts to DARE should be sent to DARE, c/o University of Wisconsin Foundation, U.S. Bank Lockbox, P.O. Box 78807, Milwaukee WI 53278-0807. Please make your check out to DARE/UW Foundation or to Frederic G. Cassidy DARE Fund.  The gifts are deposited in Milwaukee but then credited to the appropriate account by the financial folks at the UW Foundation. (One reminder: this address is only for gifts.  Other types of correspondence should not be sent to this address.) Contributions can also be charged to a major credit card. Currently, private gifts to DARE are matched on a one-to-one basis by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Or you can make a gift to DARE online.  Simply click on University of Wisconsin Foundation Making a Gift Page and follow the directions.  Under "Gift Designation" enter L&S and fill in the box with DARE.

Deferred gifts are also very much appreciated. Please contact DARE's Development Specialist, Jon Sorenson, by e-mail or at (608) 262-7211 with any questions concerning contributions to the Dictionary of American Regional English. Thank you very much for your interest and support.
