Weissbort Reflection

Just to let you know how fine I thought the above conference was. It was a privilege to be the keynote speaker. I am most impressed by the way Toma Longinovic seems to have got interested parties together. I shall watch the development of things translational in Wisconsin with great interest. The future of translation studies certainly depends on involving as many related disciplines as may be. The standard of contributions to the above conference were absolutely outstanding. And I speak from experience! In fact, I am just off to New York (hence the hasty nature of this note) for the annual American Literary Translators Conference (I'm a founder member of ALTA) and do not expect to listen to anything nearly as lively or inspiring. Nevertheless, I think you might consider, at some point, hosting the annual ALTA conference, as it would help draw attention to your cultural translation project and possible translation studies program. With all good wishes,
