Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701

This exhibition is the first in the United States to focus on this

seventeenth-century Dutch master's paintings and features approximately

fifteen works from collections in this country and abroad, including the

Wadsworth Atheneum, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum

of Art. The paintings will be complemented by approximately thirty works

on paper by the artist and his contemporaries, including Peter Paul Rubens

and Hendrick Goltzius, and will allow visitors to get a sense of the

cultural environment at this time in Dutch history. Dr. Marcel

Roethlisberger, Professor of Art History at the University of Geneva and

author of the Bloemaert catalogue raisonne, will be lecturing at the Museum

on Sunday, January 28, 2001 at 3:00 pm.
